Well this is interesting, especially since GM is run by the Government and Obama's auto task force!
DETROIT (AP) -- If your credit isn't good, General Motors Co. still wants to sell you a car.The problem is, it can't. At least not in big numbers. That's why the automaker wants more control over its lending again.GM's top North American executive Mark Reuss, under pressure to quickly sell more cars and boost GM's value as it gets ready to sell stock to the public, said a shortage of subprime lending is holding back sales in the U.S.
I thought this was how the housing problem started, by Government insisting on risky loans to people who could never pay them back. All under the guise of affordable housing. Is the Government going to do it again with new cars? If a lender steps up and backs this boondoggle in the making, keep a close eye on that lender and see if it has Tarp tentacles  or is affiliated with some one who does.

I am not exactly sure why the above pictured auto (sub-compact/prime) would not be affordable to just about anyone, unless the teleprompter's carry a hefty price tag. But it is Government Motors! Heh.
