Growth?

Yawn...

New U.S. claims for unemployment benefits rose more than expected last week, a government report showed on Thursday, pointing to a labor market that is struggling to regain momentum after job growth faltered in the last two months.
Nothing will change until Barry is sent packing, that should be obvious by now.

Hard Times

Turbo Tax Tim got it wrong...

Tim tells Meet The Depressed...
He says President Barack Obama rescued the United States from a second Great Depression and will keep working to strengthen the economy. But Geithner says will be some time before many people feel like the country is recovering.
It should read.
President Barack Obama rescued the United States from a deep recession and worked tirelessly to turn it into the OBAMA DEPRESSION.

These two could not have failed more miserably...

Unemployed?

Worse than expected...Again!

Nonfarm payrolls rose only 18,000, the weakest reading since September, the Labor Department said on Friday, well below economists' expectations for a 90,000 rise.
Barry doesn't seem to think it will hurt him. Or so says one of his mouthpieces.

“The average American does not view the economy through the prism of GDP or unemployment rates or even monthly jobs numbers,” Plouffe said. “People won’t vote based on the unemployment rate, they’re going to vote based on: ‘How do I feel about my own situation? Do I believe the president makes decisions based on me and my family?’”
You may want to rethink that Barry, you are in landslide defeat territory now...

Update:
Revisions for April and May. 44,000 fewer...
Update II:
Outside the standard deviation of expectations. Simple version=Epic failure.

Obama's Unemployment Numbers

Do the numbers add up?
Well yes they do actually.....

Explained in two sentences.
If you remove 2.33 million people from the labor force within one year, that will indeed help lower the unemployment rate. It is, however, not the same as helping the unemployed find jobs.
The latest jobs report.
The number of people who were “not in the labor force” In March 2010 was 83,264,000 (seasonally adjusted). In March 2011, it was 85,594,000 (seasonally adjusted). If you want to know how unemployment dropped a point, look no further than this statistic.
Sure to be reported by all the major networks right?

New Day, New Excuse

Jobless claims rise.

“It’s the volatility around the Presidents’ Day holiday,” Jonathan Basile, director of U.S. economics at Credit Suisse Holdings USA Inc. in New York said before the report. “The swings around this moving holiday sometimes distort the trend. The labor market has been improving. Firms feel better about the outlook because their sales have improved and the need to cut costs” has decreased. The Presidents’ Day holiday was Feb. 21.
Uh, I have not heard this one before...
Update....
Markets don't buy it either!

8.9% unemployment with a smaller workforce is nothing to cheer about Barry.

Of Course The Unemployment Rate Dropped

The pool of unemployed is at a 27 year low.

Rick Santelli.
The government's definition of the labor force is all individuals 16 years of age and older, who are employed or seeking employment. It does not include students; retirees; anyone with unreported income, or "discouraged" workers.
The participation rate is the comparison of the "labor force," those looking for work or employed, and everyone else. That ratio is currently 64.2 percent seasonally adjusted, and 63.9 percent non-seasonally adjusted, the same level as last month. Both of those percentages are currently running at 27-year lows, meaning the percentage of Americans not working or even trying to join the work force is at a near three-decade high.
And the spot on reason for this sleight of hand goes to Steve Gilbert from his great piece.
After all, the important thing is to get the unemployment rate below the magical 8% before the 2012 elections, by hook or by crook.
These folks running the White House can't be trusted to give you the correct time of day........

Glock 19: How did Unemployed Jared Loughner Buy Popular, Expensive Pistol?

The Glock 19 Costs $400-$500, Not Including Bullets and Magazines
By SUSANNA KIM
Jan. 11, 2011
The gun Jared Lee Loughner allegedly used to try to assassinate Rep. Gabrielle Giffords is a popular firearm around the world. Questions remain how Loughner, with no record of recent employment, could afford a $500 Glock 19.
Little is known about Loughner’s employment record. He volunteered at a local pet shelter in January and February of last year, according to the New York Times, which reported he was told not to come back after he refused to follow the rules about where to walk the dogs. Loughner said on his application at the shelter that he worked at an Eddie Bauer store in Tucson from October 2008 to November 2009
Given that our new unemployment benefits which now extend for three years, Mr. Loughner could easily still be collecting unemployment from his job at Eddie Bauer. The top unemployment benefit in Arizona as of 2009 was $240 a week. Which should be plenty for someone still living with his parents.
By the way, you will notice that ABC News did not wonder where Mr. Loughner got the money for his daily marijuana smoking.
If it turns out that he did purchase this pistol with extended unemployment money should Congress be held partly responsible? What will Ms. Pelosi say?
Should people be allowed to buy guns with federal money?
I won't hold my breath for Ms. Pelosi's answer.......

Crazy uncle Joe, er VP Biden......

Republicans argue tax cuts must be made permanent for everyone to avoid sapping spending while the economy is still weak. They also say Congress should have a plan to pay for the estimated $65 billion cost of extending jobless aid, in order to avoid adding to the country's high and rising debts. Three weeks before Christmas, Biden stressed it was not the time to sever support for those in need.
"Cutting unemployment insurance is not only not smart, it's not right either," Biden said. "That's no message to send in the season of hope."
This young lady has a great post on other idiots who think like Joe.
Why don't we all go on unemployment and sit back and watch the economy explode!

Unemployment / Obama dissaproval Video

See any correlation there? Heh.
Some only see a unemployment video, some of us see the truth.

He is well on his way (if he isn't there already) to being the worst President in history.
