As I remember, the American people did decide this.
Go ask 63 out of work DemocRAT Congressional critters and 6 ex DemocRAT Senators about how the people feel Joe.....

Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. walked out of Thursday's high-stakes negotiations to stop a government shutdown and said the conversations will continue — but he won't actually be part of them since he leaves this weekend for major negotiations with European leaders.

President Obama on Wednesday tapped Mr. Biden, his "sheriff" on the stimulus, to lead negotiations with Congress, though Mr. Biden already had a prearranged trip scheduled to visit Finland, Russia and Moldova next week.

The White House dismissed worries about his absence, saying it would not be an impediment.

Who in God's name would worry about Joe going missing?

For those of you who have never traveled to the west, or southwest, cattle guards are horizontal steel rails placed at fence openings, in dug-out places in the roads adjacent to highways (sometimes across highways), to prevent cattle from crossing over that area.  For some reason the cattle will not step on the “guards,” probably because they fear getting their feet caught between the rails.

                                   

A few months ago, President Obama received and was reading a report that there were over 100,000 cattle guards in Colorado .  The Colorado ranchers had protested his proposed changes in grazing policies, so he ordered the Secretary of the Interior to fire half of the “cattle guards” immediately!

Before the Secretary of the Interior could respond and presumably try to straighten President Obama out on the matter, Vice-President Joe Biden, intervened with a request that...before any “cattle” guards were fired, they be given six months of retraining for Arizona border guards.  “Times are hard,” said Joe Biden, “It’s only fair to the cattle guards and their families!”

This may be an oldie but it was a first read for me.
With the folks running the show now this is a real possibility.If not, its still worth the chuckle..........

Republicans argue tax cuts must be made permanent for everyone to avoid sapping spending while the economy is still weak. They also say Congress should have a plan to pay for the estimated $65 billion cost of extending jobless aid, in order to avoid adding to the country's high and rising debts. Three weeks before Christmas, Biden stressed it was not the time to sever support for those in need.
"Cutting unemployment insurance is not only not smart, it's not right either," Biden said. "That's no message to send in the season of hope."

Biden said he was right to warn that the administration’s work would be scuttled if the GOP manages to pick up enough seats in this fall’s elections to win back the House, or possibly, the Senate.
