Marilyn Monroe Smoked Cannabis: Home Video
A home base film showing a easy Marilyn Monroe evidently smoking marijuana has surfaced, retrieved from an attic around 50 years after it was filmed.
The stagger-to-stagger still, hue movie taken at a exclusive home in New Jersey was recently purchased by art-lover Keya Morgan for $275,000 (£180,000) from the individual who took the video, who has asked to linger anonymous.
The copyright of the picture will be put up for selling on eBay later this week, Morgan said.
Monroe can be seen inhaling from the evident marijuana cigarette in these curtain grabs taken from the video.
Morgan, a gatherer of recorded photos, manuscripts, autographs and documents, is also working on a documentary on the death of Monroe in August 1962.
He learned of the movie during his research and tracked down the owner, who kept it as part of an archive that was moved between various homes over the years.
The Monroe movie had been stored in an attic for three years before Morgan tracked it down.
The actress appears pleased and carefree at a little assembly of friends that Morgan dates to 1958 or 1959, based on her arrival.
'This is the late Fifties so she is already very celebrated, but this is a individual side of her we've never seen before. People have never seen her in such a relaxed position,' Morgan said.
At one position she is passed a cigarette and takes a huff but does not appear to inspire deep. Later she appears to take a whiff of her own armpit and laughs about it.
The individual who made the film confirmed that the cigarette contained marijuana, saying: 'I got it (the pot). It was mine. It was just passed around.
'It was not a cocktail. It was just a get-together. You know, come over and suspend out.'
Monroe, born Norma Jeane Mortenson, died at her residence in Los Angeles on August 5, 1962.
Her finish was later recorded as 'acute barbiturate poisoning' following a 'probably suicide'. It was estimated she had taken around 50 pills at the period of her death.
